Thursday found us at a meet in S. Everett-and the sun was shining! I will start with a picture of Kelsey's post 4x400 relay race. She is back competing with a Breathe Right strip on her nose. So far, so good. She wasn't happy with her mile time that day. But she is happy that we may have found a solution for keeping her piercing in, but covered.
Okay, now on to why my post is titled the way it is:
This picture below shows our top four boy distance runners. (not in finishing order) At this meet they came in #1-4 in the mile! Then to top it off-all of them PR'd (or had their best time to date). That made for an exciting and fun race. The high of the week. After this meet Michael and some friends went out to eat. When he gets home, he realizes that he likely tossed his phone in the trash when he emptied his food tray. He did not want to go back and dig through the trash. So, he paid Pat to order a replacement. We pay insurance for this reason. A teenager without a phone is a low!
Well, life got lower! Friday after school the team drove over to a local middle school to run a loop course that has a lot of wood chips-so it is a softer surface. The story as I was told: Michael was following a friend into the parking lot. The friend pulled into a spot where Michael thought he was going to park. However the friend intended to back into a spot-put his car in reverse and ran right into our car. Big time low for the week!! Here is the damage for our car. Of course the friend's car had only a little scratch. So, of course, our costs of repair are much greater. It gets a little complicated, and I'm going to spare you all of those details.
However, on Sunday, Pat was able to pop the dent out.
There is still damage, and it will need to be replaced by next winter. Our estimate for repair was $860. But when Pat was fixing the bumper, he saw that he could do the replacement himself. The end result is that the two boys have to work out who is paying what to give Pat $400 by September 1st. They are lucky that Pat is as handy as he is. And that this is not going to the insurance companies. This amount will cover replacement parts and a new paint job.
The hardest part has been that Michael seemed so "put out" every time we tried to talk about who was paying for what, etc. On his defense, he was trying to keep a friendship. But choosing that over discussing the details of how he planned on helping us fix the car. GRRRR.
I hope this week is just all about the highs-but we never know, do we?
