Happy Mother's Day

I was able to celebrate Mother's Day with some great moms: my mom, my grandma and my sister, Krista. We had brunch at our house, with my family. We even had a sunny, nice day to help with the celebration.

Now back to my regularly scheduled program:
This Friday was the District meet.  My mom and dad came up to watch the kids run.  The weather was nice.
Michael ran in the mile and two  mile.  He was close to matching his best mile time (Ben PR'd). Michael was able to beat his best time by 8 seconds to take 1st place in the 2 mile!!  Way to go, Michael!
This was after a few days of being a camp counselor for 6th graders on Orcas Island. He was supposed to catch an earlier ferry to get home to rest and eat before the meet. They had some car trouble, and he missed that first ferry.  He did not get home until 45 minutes before the meet started.  (I was a little stressed!)
We will find out on Monday if he can get into the mile race on Wednesday.  He would have run the 2 mile this upcoming Friday.  But there is an orchestra trip that was planned well in advance to track.  This might have been his last meet, but what a way to end it!

Kelsey was supposed to run the mile, 800m, and a leg of the 4x400m.  This picture is from her mile race.  She had a very strong start.  But her being home with a fever of up to 104* a couple days prior paid it's toll. Her body just quit on her during that mile race.  She was pulled out of the other races. I hope she can get her confidence back this week!
